Roofing materials are given a rating over it’s ability to resist hail damage. Your average asphalt shingles with low impact resistance may easily break or crack during a hailstorm which will then expose your roof to water and moisture penetration. When water starts seeping into your roof deck, it will result in wood rotting and your roof will start to leak. But even if the hail damage does not penetrate through the back of the roofing material, the hail impact will definitely make your roof look battered and shabby.
